Giving Back 2014
We are proud to have once again partnered with the Walter & Connie Payton Foundation’s Toy Drive this year. We were able to provide toys and cash that will touch over one hundred deserving children. We didn’t do this all alone; we would like to thank our friends President Rocco Terranova of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 73, Julie Gately of Barnett Capital, and Jennifer Rice of the Fox Valley Labor News for their generous donations.
COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP: Woodruff Johnson Palermo’s annual scholarship application period has begun. The $2500 scholarship is for entering college freshmen, in the Fox Valley area, for a child of a labor union employee. This scholarship is for the 2015 enrollment year.
Attorney Mario Palermo joined forces with other KCBA Cares volunteers at the Northern Illinois Food Bank to sort and package food that will be distributed to families in need throughout thirteen Illinois counties.
WJ&E acted as a sponsor for the 22nd Annual Jacksonville Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 125 Golf Outing once again this year. This event served to benefit several local youth programs in the Jacksonville area.

WJ&E acted as the Putting Green Contest Sponsor at the Boys & Girls Club of Naperville – Annual Golf Outing last week. The Foundation’s mission is to help students in the local community with academics, social skills and fitness. We are proud to have contributed to such a great cause.
WJ&E served as sponsors of the Illinois Valley Building and Construction Trades Council‘s Charity Challenge Golf Outing on Friday, August 15, 2014. This event served to benefit the Youth Service Bureau of Illinois Valley
WJ&E proudly served as sponsors of the Blues on Barton 5K hosted by The Sather Foundation. As a Charity Fundraiser, this event raised awareness and funds towards Brain Cancer research and causes local to the Oswegoland area.

April 2014 – WJ&E attended the 2nd Annual “A Blue Tie Affair” – a charitable fundraiser hosted by the Youth Service Bureau of Illinois Valley. As Indigo Sponsors of this event, we proudly support the YSB’s mission of enhancing the quality of life for all children, youth and families.
Congratulations to Waubonsie Valley High School wrestler Mitch Kroening. Mitch captured the Upstate Eight Conference Championship this Saturday in the 182 pound division. He was also recognized with the Jeff Mirabella Award as the tournament’s overall most outstanding wrestler. Kroening worked as a file clerk for the law firm of Woodruff Johnson & Evans Law Offices last summer. He is also a graduate of the Waubonsie Wrestling Club; a program that the law firm has sponsored for the last five years. Congratulations Mitch and good luck at regionals!
Alongside other Kane County Bar Association volunteers, WJ&E attorneys offered their assistance in sorting and packaging food at the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry. The pantry serves families in need residing in Kane, Kendall, DuPage and DeKalb counties.
